In early Spring, Aeneas finally set sail. Now imagine a gentle cruise, covering four countries and twenty-one ports, from Antandros (Edremit) to Lazio to found the new Troy.
Don’t miss out on excavations in Antandros, a real treasure as they revealed the city’s well-preserved necropolis, cemetery, city walls, ancient trade route and Roman houses with mosaic floors and walls decorated with paintings reminiscent of the hillside houses in Ephesus. The houses on the hillside are a fascinating wonder with their exceptionally beautiful and well-preserved mosaics.
Edremit is located between Assos and Ayvalık. Edremit faces the bay with its back lying on Kazdağları. In ancient times it was known as Pidasus and Adramis. The town offers thermal and mountain tourism options, whilst the town of Altınoluk lying below the Kaz Mountains (Mount Ida) is famous for its fresh air.
Now from the Gulf of Edremit you might not decide to ferry up the water to Çanakkale, you can, of course consider a scenic land route so do check out our fabulous detour itinerary off the beaten track.
The local cuisine is extremely healthy with lots of Aegean herbs and fresh vegetables which are served throughout the day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Green herbs served with fresh tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers form the basis of a typical breakfast in Edremit. Local Ezine peyniri (white cheese) served with the olives and olive oil of the region is a staple of local breakfasts.
